Q3 2024 sees a decrease in crypto hacks but a sharp increase in stolen assets!

🔍 CertiK report (1/10) shows a 9.5% increase in financial losses, with $753 million stolen from 155 incidents. Ethereum was hit the hardest with 86 incidents, losing over $387 million.

📅 On August 19, a Bitcoin whale lost 4,064 BTC (~$238 million) due to a wallet breach. WazirX was also hacked, losing over $235 million.

📊 Hackers have stolen nearly $2 billion since the start of 2024. Q1: $505 million from 224 incidents; Q2: $687 million. Q3: only 4.1% of stolen assets recovered.

⚠️ Phishing was the most expensive attack method in Q3/2024, with $343 million stolen from 65 incidents. Private key compromises cost $324 million from 10 incidents.
