When BTC hovers around $66,000, XRP has emerged as a dark horse and has seen a gratifying increase.
In the long run, XRP has also performed far better than BTC.
In the past 90 days, XRP prices have soared 30%, mainly due to good news from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) lawsuit. In contrast, BTC has only risen 4% in the same period.
The SEC reportedly intends to appeal Judge Torres' July ruling, saying that XRP's secondary sales are not securities.
But John Deaton, a cryptocurrency lawyer and winner of the Massachusetts Republican primary, said the SEC's appeal was insufficient and was just a delaying tactic. He also pointed out that Judge Torres was inadequate in applying the Howey test (the legal standard for determining whether an asset is a security).
