Billionaire investor Christian Angermayer has moved to the Swiss Bitcoin hub of Lugano, citing plans by the UK to increase taxes on offshore wealth. While living in the UK, Angermayer had “non-dom” status, which exempted him from taxes on overseas income. However, this period was reduced to four years in March 2024, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour Party plans to remove inheritance tax exemptions on assets in offshore trusts.
