PANews reported on September 20 that according to the official blog of Polygon Labs, the Polygon zkEVM testnet is about to usher in a new, higher-performance and more stable sequencer. This important technological breakthrough will not only benefit Polygon zkEVM developers and dApps, but will also have a profound impact on chains built using Polygon CDK. The upgrade named "Eggfruit" has been launched on the testnet today (September 20, 2024), and will be officially launched on the mainnet beta after a 10-day lock-up period, that is, on September 30.
The Eggfruit upgrade will be launched on the mainnet beta on September 30 (18:30 Beijing time). During the upgrade, there will be about two hours of maintenance, during which the Polygon zkEVM beta will be suspended. Since the Eggfruit upgrade involves the PolygonZkEVM.sol consensus contract, the lock-up period is set to ensure the safety of all developers and users and follow the network governance model. Before the upgrade is implemented, developers have enough time to withdraw funds (if necessary).
