**Uniswap CEO Refutes Deployment Fee Allegations**
Uniswap's CEO, Hayden Adams, has firmly denied claims that the protocol demands money for deployments. On Sept. 12, Adams took to social media platform X to clarify that neither Uniswap Labs nor the Uniswap Foundation charge fees for protocol deployment. He emphasized that deployments are governed by community votes and depend on the activity and effort required per chain.
The denial comes after X user @wagmialexander alleged Uniswap asked for $20 million for a deployment. Uniswap, an open-source protocol for trading ERC20 tokens, recently settled with the CFTC over illegal leveraged trading, paying a $175,000 penalty. The protocol remains a major player in decentralized finance, holding $4.35 billion in total value locked as of Sept. 12.
