In a recent interview, Bill Gates shared his expectations of AI as the key to revolutionizing the key sectors of education and healthcare. Despite the challenges of misinformation by AI, Gates shared his optimism. According to him, AI can positively impact productivity in solving the challenges faced globally.
The former CEO of Microsoft has appreciated the use of AI in education to personalize learning. He references Khan’s academy, Khanmigo, an AI tool that helps students and teachers customize the learning needs of students who are lagging behind.
“The idea of the personal tutor… help the teachers do their jobs, help the students who are behind or ahead stay engaged,” Gates said. Gate also said that he uses AI regularly in his personal life. He specifically uses it to quickly learn anything specific and also as a tool to manage his work through Microsoft Teams. According to him, the Meeting Summary tool is one of the features that Bill Gates depends most on. It helps him to stay in the loop despite his hectic schedule.
Bill Gates thinks AI can solve the problem of misinformation
Bill Gates recognizes the misuse of deep fake. However, he differs in his belief that AI is the key source of misinformation. According to him, people can spread misinformation themselves. However he believes if AI’s potential is used in a balance, it can even solve the issue of misinformation.
“People can type misinformation into a word processor. They don’t need AI, you know, to type out crazy things. And so I’m not sure that, other than creating deep fakes, AI really changes the balance there.”
