Authorities in the province of La Rioja, Argentina, have stepped up their actions against the US company Worldcoin, known for offering WLD tokens in exchange for scanning people's irises.
In the last week, the province's Cybercrime Executive Unit has closed down a location where iris scanning was carried out, and is in the process of scrutinizing the activities throughout the territory, adding to the measures previously adopted by the Province of Buenos Aires, duly reported. Provincial authorities have expressed concern about the collection of sensitive biometric data, arguing that this practice represents a significant risk to the security and privacy of citizens.
