According to ChainCatcher, French prosecutors said that Telegram founder and CEO Durov could be released as early as Wednesday local time. However, Polymarket is not sure whether he can be released in August, and some users are betting that he will be released before the end of September.

Prosecutors said Durov has not been formally charged. Instead, he was detained as part of an investigation into crimes allegedly planned or disseminated on Telegram, including money laundering, drug trafficking, child pornography and non-cooperation with law enforcement.

The release noted that Durov’s detention could be extended if investigators uncover sufficient evidence during interrogation, or he could be formally charged and transferred to pretrial detention. Such a possibility could heighten doubts in the market about whether he can be released by the initial deadline.
