ILLEGAL BTC MINING FACILITY CAUGHT Thai police and electricity authorities said they had cracked down on an illegal Bitcoin mine in a local town on Sunday, following weeks of complaints from surrounding areas about power outages.

Local police and officials from the Provincial Electricity Authority (AFP) raided a property in Ratchaburi province, a central Thai province west of Bangkok.

District Security Chief Jamnong Chanwong said the power outages likely began in mid-July, when the mine began operating. Thai authorities claimed the mining operator was paying relatively low wages compared to its significant electricity consumption. However, authorities have not yet arrested anyone from the mine ( invest in news )
