According to PANews, starting next year, the US SEC will temporarily reduce the size of its commissioners, pending Senate approval of the presidential nominee. Republican commissioners Hester Peirce and Mark Uyeda will continue to perform their duties.
Peirce revealed that with the departure of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, the SEC’s stance on the encryption industry will change significantly. She told the Blockchain Association Policy Summit that the new committee membership changes could affect the types of cases.
Uyeda pointed out that most policy discussions at federal agencies take place behind closed doors, and public input on regulations is limited. He hopes the SEC will increase opportunities for public comment. Peirce stressed that change is not easy and requires joint efforts.
