According to ChainCatcher, Shane Oliver, chief economist of Australia's AMP Financial Services, said that the Reserve Bank of Australia is expected to start cutting interest rates in February, and the money market shows that there is a 69% probability of a rate cut in February.
Oliver said the RBA should start cutting interest rates by May at the latest, with at least three cuts expected in 2025. He noted that Trump's policies could increase U.S. inflation and interest rates, but the impact on Australia was uncertain and could even be negative.
Oliver added that the new committee was unlikely to change the path of interest rates from March.
