According to PANews, consumer advocacy group 'Public Citizen' and other interest groups urge U.S. lawmakers to confirm Caroline Crenshaw's reappointment as SEC Commissioner before the new Congress takes office.

On December 12, more than 40 organizations sent a letter to the U.S. Senate, urging support for Crenshaw's nomination so she can continue to work at the SEC until 2029. The Senate Banking Committee was originally scheduled to make a decision on December 11, but postponed the vote.

Crenshaw is a Democrat, with an initial term ending in June 2024, but she can continue to serve until the end of 2025. The new Congress has a Republican majority, limiting the Democrats' chances of confirming commissioners.
