The Cheongju District Court in South Korea has sentenced a public official from the Cheongju City Government to five years in prison for embezzling public funds, PANews reported.
The official embezzled 600 million won over seven years starting in January 2017 to invest in cryptocurrencies, stocks and repay personal debts.
He reportedly forged official documents as part of the scheme.
