Amid significant backlash for choosing not to speak at a Bitcoin conference, Vice President Kamala Harris has found an ally in SkyBridge founder Anthony Scaramucci.

Scaramucci expressed his support for the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, and criticized the ongoing narrative indicating the Harris administration's hostility toward cryptocurrencies. Contrast this with former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump's history of calling Bitcoin a "scam" until 2022.

Scaramucci Urges Patience With Harris' Crypto Strategy

Cryptocurrency advocates have long criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to the industry. Although Vice President Harris recently secured a majority of Democratic delegates to become the party’s presidential nominee, her policies on cryptocurrencies remain unclear.

Her team reportedly reached out to experts to ask questions about cryptocurrencies — a move seen as a positive shift — but a tweet from Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey indicating Harris’ decision not to speak at an upcoming Bitcoin conference on July 25-27 sparked controversy.

Meanwhile, Trump’s aggressive flirtation with the crypto asset class is threatening Harris’ presidential campaign.

Addressing the issue, Scaramucci criticized Trump for calling him a “transactional person” in his latest tweet, while adding that his current pro-crypto stance is likely a strategic move to raise funds and support. He noted that Harris has shown openness to the industry, and stressed that she has not led crypto policy in the Biden administration.

Will Gensler be fired and Warren sidelined under Harris?

The Wall Street financier also urged Harris’s critics to give her the opportunity to develop her own strategy for the industry, saying a potential Harris presidency should not be seen as an extension of Warren’s unfriendly stance toward cryptocurrencies.

In fact, he believes Harris’ approach to crypto policy could differ significantly from Warren’s, emphasizing the need to keep an open mind and avoid premature judgments. By advocating for a bipartisan approach, he believes the crypto ecosystem will benefit more in the long run.

Scaramucci noted the lack of camaraderie between Harris and Sen. Elizabeth Warren and predicted that if the former became president, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler would likely be fired and Warren sidelined.

“Let’s keep the bipartisanship on crypto, it will be healthier for the ecosystem in the long run.”

Interestingly, Scaramucci previously served as White House communications director during Trump’s presidency, but his tenure was short-lived, as he was fired after ten days.
