North Korean hackers posing as job seekers to steal cryptocurrency to fund weapons program

According to BlockBeats, at the Cyberwarcon conference on November 28, security researchers assessed the North Korean threat. North Korean hackers disguised themselves as job applicants to steal corporate secrets and cryptocurrencies.

Microsoft security researcher James Elliott said North Korean IT workers have infiltrated hundreds of organizations around the world using fake identities and used U.S. intermediaries to circumvent financial sanctions.

Experts believe the North Korean cyber threat consists of multiple hacker groups with the goal of stealing cryptocurrency, funding its nuclear weapons program and circumventing international sanctions.
