According to Odaily Planet Daily, people familiar with the matter said that US banks such as Goldman Sachs Group, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America have asked investors to disclose whether they plan to raise additional debt to invest in significant risk transfer (SRT) tools.
Regulators are currently reviewing whether SRT tools pose a threat to financial stability. Investors have been asked about this issue in recent months as the rollout process began.
Authorities have warned investment firms looking to buy SRTs against using leverage, which help banks sell risks associated with loan portfolios but could transfer credit risk to another part of the financial system.
