🔔 Nigeria's finance minister, Wale Edun, is calling for cryptocurrency regulation as he addresses the newly elected board of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Edun stresses that cryptocurrencies are a “fast-moving” and “complex” sector that requires strict controls. 📊

👥 The seven-member SEC Council was approved by President Bola Tinubu on April 19, 2024. The SEC has since unveiled plans to update its regulatory framework regarding digital assets.

🚀 However, according to Edun, these changes are not enough. It warns that crypto entities may exploit the country's minimum registration requirements and calls for the implementation of corporate governance practices.
