According to Cointelegraph, a Reddit user named 'SentuBill' reported that the ChatGPT large language model (LLM) initiated a conversation by asking about his first day of school. The user shared that ChatGPT inferred it was his first day from previous interactions, indicating a new upgrade in the model's capabilities.
Cointelegraph confirmed the authenticity of the conversation by reviewing the official ChatGPT transcript on the LLM platform. This interaction is part of the ChatGPT Strawberry Upgrade, launched by OpenAI on September 13, 2024, to select users. The upgrade aims to enhance the model's reasoning abilities, allowing it to 'think before it answers.' The new model's response times range from 10-20 seconds and can independently scour the internet for thorough research. These advancements could make ChatGPT a valuable tool for real-world applications.
Originally scheduled for a November 2024 release, the Strawberry upgrade might launch earlier than expected. OpenAI has also revised its naming conventions for models, reflecting a significant shift from previous versions. Since April 2024, OpenAI's products have gained substantial popularity, amassing over 1 million users. The company's offerings, including ChatGPT premium subscriptions and ChatGPT Enterprise, had around 600,000 subscribers as of April 2024.
OpenAI is also contemplating a price increase for some upcoming models, potentially introducing high-end subscription plans costing up to $2,000 per month.
