According to Odaily, a technology industry group has urged the Biden administration not to implement regulations that would limit global access to artificial intelligence (AI) chips as the presidential term nears its end. The Information Technology Industry Council, representing companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta, warned that such restrictions could jeopardize the United States' leadership in the AI sector. The council argued that the proposed regulation would impose arbitrary limits on American companies' ability to sell computing systems overseas, potentially ceding the global market to competitors. The regulation could be introduced as early as Friday. In a letter to U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, the council's CEO, Jason Oxman, criticized the administration's insistence on issuing the rule during the final days of Biden's presidency.
