The Qatari Central Bank launches a digital currency project
In the past few days, the Qatari Central Bank announced the launch of its digital currency project.
After completing the development of the project’s infrastructure, he announced that this digital currency will represent a proactive step and keep pace with global financial developments.
The Central Bank of Qatar explained that it has already completed an in-depth study of the project, and will now develop selected digital currency applications to settle payments with a group of local and international banks in an experimental environment designed according to the latest advanced technologies.
The bank explained that the practical applications of this digital currency will be to increase access to capital markets, enhance settlement processes, and improve the efficiency of paper transactions.
For your information, the project will enter its experimental phase starting next October.
