Here’s Why Bitwise CEO Wants the SEC to Postpone Approval of Ethereum ETFs Bitwise, the newest Ethereum ETF applicants, argues that the industry's focus on Bitcoin products may hinder the growth of ETH ETFs. Bitwise Asset Management, a provider of cryptocurrency index funds, wants the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to defer approval for a spot Ethereum Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) until December. Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan told Forbes in an interview that the industry’s focus on Bitcoin-related products may hinder the necessary attention required for the development and approval of an Ethereum ETF. Spot Bitcoin ETF Success and Market Readiness The move comes in the wake of the company’s achievement with the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB), introduced on January 11, amassing over $2 billion in assets under management, positioning it as the fifth largest in the market. Hougan reflected on the rapid growth of such financial products, “These spot Bitcoin ETFs are the fastest-growing ETFs of all time by a large fraction,” he remarked. He further highlighted the diverse investor groups expressing interest, encompassing retail investors, independent financial advisors, hedge funds, venture capital funds, family offices, and corporate entities. He emphasized that the market’s enthusiasm for spot Bitcoin ETFs has surpassed initial forecasts, signaling a demand for crypto-focused investment instruments. However, despite the success of spot Bitcoin ETFs, Bitwise believes that Ethereum deserves equal attention. Hougan expressed confidence in the Ethereum ecosystem’s potential for growth, particularly with recent upgrades like the Dencun upgrade, which he views as a catalyst for a surge in innovative applications. He emphasized the need for investors to broaden their horizons beyond Bitcoin. 🎁Free Claim 🐸1000000 $PEPE please check below reposted post 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇. FCA Targets Meme Coin ‘Finfluencers’ with New Guidelines on Promotions #Memecoins #BullorBear Buy & Hold $SHIB $BONK Per the FCA, “finfluencers” need agency-appointed rep approval before advertising memes about financial products/services. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK has declared its intention to address meme-based marketing for financial products by releasing guidelines for financial services firms and social media influencers. The FCA’s latest report comes after its announcement last month that it will take action against firms engaged in illegal financial promotions. FCA Releases Guidelines for Memecoin Influencers The United Kingdom’s financial regulator has released guidelines for financial services companies and influencers on social media who create memes related to cryptocurrencies or other investments. The guidelines emphasize that any marketing should be transparent and not misleading. According to the FCA, the “finfluencers,” must obtain approval from an FCA-appointed representative before advertising or posting memes about financial products and services. The regulator warns that promoting a financial product without such approval could constitute a criminal offense. The FCA stresses consumer vigilance against misleading adverts and scams online. It advises influencers to ensure compliance with regulations and consider the potential impact on their reputations if they are found promoting products illegally. According to Lucy Castledine, the FCA’s director of consumer investments, the watchdog will take action against those illegally promoting financial products. The FCA further highlighted that meme-based promotion is particularly popular in the crypto sector, which includes a dedicated niche for such assets. 🎁 1000000 $PEPE free claim below 🎁🎁🎁👇👇👇👇 You have great opportunity 100% free #PEPEGrowth claim it quickly.👇👇👇👇🎁🎁 #CryptoNews🚀🔥 #btchalving2024
