• Two artificial intelligence (AI)-focused altcoins are on the rise, with research firm OpenAI launching a new text-to-video project.

Technology giant OpenAI has unveiled a new model called Sora, which can generate detailed, high-resolution videos using text as a cue.

Introducing Sora, a model that converts text into video, Sora can generate videos up to 60 seconds long containing highly detailed scenes, complex camera movements and multiple characters with vivid emotions.

According to the OpenAI website, Sora can also generate video from still images.

News of the announcement sparked a surge in the prices of two AI-related digital assets: decentralized video streaming network Live Peer (LPT) and blockchain-based #AI services trading platform Singularity Net (AGIX).

In just one day, LPT went from a low of $7.96 on Feb. 15 to $14.64, a staggering 83.9% increase, while #AGIX went from a low of $0.318 on Feb. 15 to a peak of $0.418 over the same period, a 31.4% increase.

Both crypto assets have since retreated and are trading at $14.32 and $0.384 respectively at the time of writing.

In an accompanying statement, #Livepeer said it intends to deploy text-to-video technology on its network in the coming months as part of its AI Video initiative, though no exact date or details were given.

Today, OpenAI presented the results of its research into a generative AI model for Sora video, citing some impressive examples. This helps show the world just how powerful generative video can be, and open source models are evolving faster than ever.

However, creating such videos requires huge amounts of GPU (graphics processing unit) computing power and is expensive.
