According to CryptoPotato, The Open Network (TON) ecosystem is experiencing a rise in phishing attacks, coinciding with increased network activity and a price rally of its native token, TON. The attacks primarily target unsuspecting TON wallet users through deceptive methods such as airdrops in group chats. Yu Xian, founder of blockchain security firm SlowMist, issued a warning about these malicious activities.

Anonymous Telegram numbers, similar to phone numbers, are increasingly being used to create Telegram accounts. The platform introduced anonymous numbers features in late 2022, eliminating the need for a SIM card and relying on blockchain technology for user access. However, these accounts are at a higher risk of phishing attacks. If compromised, the corresponding Telegram account could also be lost unless the user has enabled a separate password or two-step verification.

The Open Network has seen significant growth and increased activity this year. The decentralized Layer 1 blockchain's daily transfer volume recently reached 10% of Bitcoin's figures. For context, Bitcoin's average daily transfer stands at $50 billion, while TON's daily transfer volume fluctuated between $5 billion and $10 billion last week.

This surge in network activity is attributed to several key developments. An advertising system on Telegram was introduced, aiming to distribute half of the revenue generated by channels directly to their owners exclusively in TON cryptocurrency. Additionally, The Open League program was launched in early April, introducing a long-term incentive structure designed to engage and reward stakeholders within the TON community.

Recent data from DeFiLlama highlighted TON's growth, revealing that its total value locked (TVL) surged to nearly $650 million on Monday, representing an almost 7% increase in just a week. This also marked over a 4,540% increase since the beginning of 2024, when the TVL figure was near $14 million.
