According to Foresight News, the Thai government has announced the introduction of a new visa category aimed at digital nomads and freelancers. This visa allows individuals to stay in the country for nearly a year. The cost of the visa is $270 (10,000 Thai Baht), with a validity of five years. The duration of stay for DTV is 180 days, which can be extended by another 180 days for the same fee, allowing the visa holder to work in Thailand for nearly 12 months at a time. The visa stipulates that for those working remotely in Thailand, they must provide at least approximately $13,650 (500,000 Thai Baht) as support guarantee for spouses and children.

The new DTV is different from the Long Term Resident (LTV) 'Work in Thailand' visa, which is often referred to as the digital nomad visa. The latter is more difficult to obtain and requires a minimum average personal annual income of $80,000 and medical insurance coverage. Foreign working professionals must also sign an employment contract with a company that has a minimum combined income of $150 million in the past three years.
