Shiba Inu (SHIB) initially had a total supply of 1 quadrillion tokens. In May 2021, the anonymous creator, "Ryoshi," sent half of that supply to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. Buterin burned 90% of the tokens he received, permanently removing them from circulation, and donated the remaining 10% to charity. SHIB does not have a built-in burning or halving mechanism to further reduce its supply.
SHIB has been highly volatile. In May 2021, its price surged 1,953% from $0.00000172 to $0.00003532 before falling back to $0.00000793 within three weeks. After months of sideways movement, SHIB saw another sharp rise in October, hitting $0.00002913 by mid-month and reaching its all-time high of $0.000089 on October 28, 2021, before correcting downward.
