Key highlights:

  • Pixelverse has launched a web browser version of its flagship game in closed beta.

  • Becomes the first platform to use TON microtransactions away from Telegram.

  • The open beta is expected to launch in Q4 2024.

Known for its mini-games on Telegram Messenger, Pixelverse has finally expanded its horizons, announcing the closed beta launch of its flagship mini-game, PixelTap, as a web browser game. The highly anticipated MMORPG web browser game makes history as the first project to implement TON microtransactions outside of Telegram.

This is expected to push the game to new audiences and connect Pixelverse's large Telegram community to a new and expanded web3 gaming experience.

Pixelverse CEO Kirill Volgin believe the move to a web browser game, marks a historic move on how TON microtransactions can be used in other applications away from Telegram, believing it will enhance the adoption of TON as well as Pixelverse games. Launching the closed beta is also expected to connect Pixelverse’s 10 million monthly active users to the new browser game in a new and seamless web3 gaming experience.

“We are leveraging our massive user base on Telegram to expand organically beyond the platform,” Volgin said. “Many Telegram mini-game users have discovered crypto through these mini-apps in recent months, and now we’re ready to offer them a richer, more complex gaming experience outside the mobile ecosystem.”

The astonishing rise of Pixelverse into the list of top mini-games on Telegram has been heavily influenced by the seamless integration with the TON blockchain. The game's popularity skyrocketed in August when Pixelverse launched the largest profile picture (PFP) NFT collection mint on TON, attracting over 234,000 investors followed by the successful release of the Bots NFT collection, which attracted more than 40,000 investors.

However, the NFTs are not exclusively digital collectibles but offer holders additional benefits and utilities. Some benefits include profit sharing from the ecosystem revenue, access to exclusive quests, improved chances for rare items, character customization options, early access to future content like higher-tier characters, and tier-based rewards that offer tangible and monetary value as the ecosystem grows.

Pixelverse’s New Immersive Web 3 Gameplay

Pixelverse developers pride themselves in building realistic and immersive games that captivate the gamers' excitement and attention. The web-based game will see players awaken in a cryopod 800 years in the future to find themselves in Neopolis City where danger and opportunity abound in equal measure. Players will be able to maximize their gains by participating in cyberpunk battles with their robots and exploring the Pixelverse to find valuable resources.

By completing quests, collecting rare items, and recovering memory chips, players can build their wealth and gain influence in Neopolis City’s open economy. The fully realized world gives players the ability to directly influence the game’s economy and environment via their actions and decisions. This reflects the game's true spirit of Web 3 and creates a more immersive game for the players.

“Our next step is to deepen the web3 integration, moving beyond hyper-casual games to deliver a more immersive experience,” Kirill further stated.

The web browser game is currently available for a select number of early supporters, who have an opportunity to experience its gameplay, explore its world, and provide valuable feedback. The open beta version of the game is expected to launch in the next quarter, making it available to the public. The beta release of its browser game marks a “pivotal moment for Pixelverse and the TON ecosystem” as it continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in web3 gaming, the press release concludes.
