Google Cloud Introduces Blockchain RPC Service for Devs

  • Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC service supports Ethereum, with plans for future expansion.

  • The service offers a free tier with up to 100 requests per second and 1M daily requests.

  • Fully compatible with Ethereum’s JSON-RPC, Google Cloud simplifies DApp integration.

Google Cloud has launched a new Blockchain Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. This will enhance crypto development and improve the reliability of decentralized applications (DApps). This service supports the Ethereum mainnet and testnet, aiming to simplify how developers interact with blockchain data.

Enhanced Ethereum Compatibility

The Blockchain RPC service will first be available for Ethereum’s main network and its test networks. It will offer developers an easier way to integrate blockchain data into their applications. Ethereum is one of the most used blockchains for decentralized applications. In the next year, Google Cloud plans to expand support to other blockchain platforms.

Comprehensive compatibility with Ethereum is also supported. This is thanks to the design of the service to work natively with Ethereum’s JSON-RPC interface. Moreover, the service is initially provided at the basic availability level and at a basic rate of 100 requests per second and at a million requests per day. This is expected to drive early adoption by developers seeking to create or further expand a dApp.

Challenges of RPC in Blockchain Networks

RPC communication protocols play a crucial role in blockchain development. It enables one program to request services from another across different networks. However, RPC reliability has been a persistent challenge for many developers. Delays or errors during communication can impact the performance of decentralized applications. High network activity or transaction volumes can exacerbate these issues and lead to additional RPC failures.

The introduction of Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC service seeks to address these reliability concerns. It aims to help developers minimize delays and errors by offering a robust solution that supports the Ethereum blockchain.

It has to be noted that the Blockchain RPC service is free and has a high request capacity. Also, the service respects EIP-1474 which is an interface for Ethereum nodes RPC methods name convention. This should offer conformity to the developers as they create or work on decentralized applications.
