THE $11B LIE: MAX PAIN VS LIQUIDITY PAIN

Today $11 billion in #Bitcoin options expire. Most traders are watching the $71,000 Max Pain level. But the real action is $7,200 higher. BTC trades near $78,200 right now. The biggest cluster of long liquidations is at $77,500, not $71K.

Here’s why this matters: Max Pain works best when longs and shorts are balanced. Right now, longs outnumber shorts 7 to 1. There is $14B in open interest stacked below price. In this setup, a quick move to $77,500 can create more impact than a full drop to $71K. A 2% dip would trigger large liquidations and let option sellers hedge profitably, while still keeping BTC far above Max Pain.

Extra point: It’s Friday. Weekend liquidity is thin. If $77,500 is tested before 4PM #UTC and holds, dealers who sold calls at $78K to $80K may need to buy spot to hedge. That can cause a sharp move up into low liquidity.
