According to Foresight News, OpenAI has announced updates on the progress of its advanced speech mode, initially demonstrated at its spring release conference. The Alpha version was originally planned to be launched for a small group of ChatGPT Plus users by the end of June. However, the launch has been delayed by a month as more time is needed to meet the standards for going live. OpenAI is currently working on improving the model's ability to detect and reject certain content, enhancing user experience, and preparing the infrastructure to handle real-time response needs of millions of users.

The Alpha testing will commence with a small group of users, with feedback being collected and expansions being made accordingly. OpenAI anticipates that all Plus users will gain access in the fall, with the specific timeline dependent on the achievement of safety and reliability standards. In addition, OpenAI is also advancing the launch of video and screen sharing features. The advanced speech mode is designed to understand and respond to emotional and non-verbal cues, aiming to achieve more real-time and natural AI conversations.
