On December 24 last year, I published an article titled "What is the Grass project? How to participate in mining?" Friends who are interested can go back and take a look. Yes, it seems that the project party is preparing to issue coins!

Grass official X (Twitter): @getgrass_io said that wallet authentication is now available, and it is mentioned in the article that it is not too late to join now! Summer has just begun, which also indicates that the coin issuance time will be in the near future, and if you join now, it is completely in time, please rest assured, you can read on 👇👇👇

On June 20, the official released a short article about adding nodes. The article mentioned that community node users can get a high 1.25 times network score. If you didn’t join earlier, don’t worry, this is the only shortcut to join now. I will teach you how to add a community node below 👇👇👇 (with pictures and text, just follow step by step)

How to bind a wallet to Grass?

First of all, let me tell you how to bind a wallet, because when the points are matched, the corresponding tokens will be directly put into your bound wallet. Let's open the grass official website, log in to your account, click "Rewards" on the left, and then verify these three, complete the verification in sequence, verify the email address - verify the wallet address - confirm the wallet in the email (if you verify the email, or it cannot be refreshed, and it is displayed as shown below, then just close the ladder and refresh it) When it comes to the wallet verification stage, you need to install the Phantom wallet (if nothing goes wrong, this token is most likely issued on the SOL chain) This is the wallet officially required by Grass.

How to install and use Grass community node?

1. Download and unzip the file

We open the Srass official website and click on the Store on the left. We will see two ways to earn points.
Methods, "Download the Grass Chrome extension" (you can refer to my article last year, which explains how to use it) and "Community Node". In this article, we will talk about "Community Node"

We click on the far right and click "DOWNLOAD"

You will come to a page like this, select your computer system (basically Windows and Apple systems), and then click Download (if you click and nothing happens, please close the ladder, refresh and click again to download. This website basically does not require a ladder to use)

After downloading, unzip the installation package and unzip it on a disk other than the C drive. After unzipping, you will get two files. Right-click and select "Run as Administrator". Remember to select it!!!

After you click to agree to the agreement, this pop-up window will appear, indicating that the first step has been successful, and you can continue to read on👇👇👇

2. Install Grass Community Node Extension (CRX) for your browser

Open the browser. For Chrome (Google), first click on the extension in the upper right corner.

Click on "Manage extensions"

After opening, we click on the "Developer Mode" on the right and refresh the webpage

Then we just need to open the two files that we unzipped at the beginning, find the second file, the CRX file, and drag it to the "
The blank space of the "Browser Extension Page", which is the blank space of the page in the picture above👆👆👆

After dragging, a pop-up window will pop up. Click "Add extension"

After adding, click the extension in the upper right corner of the page, and a plug-in called "Grass Community Node" will appear. Click it and log in to the page.

Displaying this page means that your node is running successfully!

If the Network Quality is displayed in red as shown in the picture below, close the ladder and refresh the page, it will return to green as shown above.

If you are a Apple computer user, please see the official website Store 👉 How to install 👉 macOS. If you don’t understand it, just install a translation plug-in.

Please remember that you need to close the ladder so that the node can run and help you get points. If the official website cannot be refreshed, just close the ladder. You can try to run both at the same time, although I am not sure whether it supports browser programs and community nodes running at the same time. But since you have opened one anyway, two are almost the same and can be opened at the same time. As long as the pin in the upper right corner lights up, they will be hung on the webpage, but please note ⚠️⚠️⚠️ After the community node is installed, it does not mean that you can close the webpage. You need to keep the computer turned on and the webpage open.

Will running a community node affect computer hardware or involve privacy issues? Will it consume a lot of electricity like mining? The answer is no.

1. Impact on Hardware

  • Normal workload
Grass community nodes primarily use your extra network bandwidth to collect data for AI projects. This usage will not have a significant impact on your computer hardware because it only utilizes your existing network resources and does not impose additional load on your computer's CPU, memory or hard drive.

  • Hardware wear
Generally speaking, as long as it is normal network activity, the wear and tear on the hardware is extremely small. Grass runs in the background, and its working principle is similar to the network services you use every day, such as browsing the web or watching videos, so it will not cause additional wear and tear on the hardware.

  • Temperature and heat dissipation
The operation of Grass does not significantly increase the workload of the computer and therefore does not cause the device to overheat. Modern computers are designed with adequate cooling systems to handle regular network traffic loads

2. Privacy issues

  • Privacy and security: Grass nodes mainly use your extra network bandwidth to collect data for AI companies, and do not involve accessing or monitoring private data on your computer. It's like renting out the parking space in front of your house. The other party can only use the parking space, but cannot enter your home or view your activities.

  • Illegal activity: Companies using the GRASS network are strictly vetted and can only be used for legal AI data collection purposes. GRASS itself does not allow illegal activity and monitors all data collection to ensure compliance.

  • Network impact: Grass only uses bandwidth that you don't use, and will not affect your daily network experience. If you use up all your network bandwidth, Grass will automatically stop working to ensure that you use network resources first.

3. Power consumption

  • Very low power consumption
Running a Grass node is essentially a network application that consumes very little power. It does not put your computer under high load for a long time, so the power consumption is negligible.

  • Passive operation
Grass is designed to run in the background and only use it when it detects excess network bandwidth. This means that when you are not using the network, it will only use a small amount of resources, so it will consume less power.

Is it too late for new users? Of course it’s urgent. After all, the official now says it’s not too late, that is, there is still some time before the real coin is issued. Anyway, you can open the browser extension and the community node together, and you can get as much as you can, and invite a few friends to boost your performance! 🤭🤭🤭
