LayerZero's "non-airdrop" triggered a huge wave, and the ZRO token plunged 17%!

(Cut and analyze)

After launching on June 20, ZRO rose by 15.15% in just 20 minutes, but then quickly fell by 22%. Since then, people have been heatedly discussing the donation mechanism, some people think it is a genius move, while others see it as an excuse for "taxation".

LayerZero (ZRO), a new token for the chain interoperability protocol, experienced a 17% drop just one day after its launch. This is because its founder defended the controversial donation criteria set for receiving tokens, which some people likened to a "tax".

Some people disagree and believe that the mechanism may be the right step to solve the recent token airdrop problem. After launching on June 20, ZRO soared 15.15% in just 20 minutes to a high of $4.71, but then plunged 22% in two hours. This often happens in token airdrops because claimants quickly sell their newly acquired tokens. The launch of ZRO has sparked unique controversy. LayerZero has stipulated that users who want to claim the token must donate a small amount of funds for each ZRO token, a requirement that has sparked anger and resentment, with some even comparing it to an "extralegal taxation."

In a jaw-dropping statement, LayerZero resolutely announced that airdrops are no longer considered an effective means to achieve "fair distribution, community building, and protocol health goals." Although airdrops were originally introduced to address these issues, due to the proliferation of airdrop farming and Sybil entities, token recipients have "little to no interest" in the long-term success of the project.
