Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded that the country's government and the Central Bank come to a common opinion on cryptocurrencies.
At a meeting with government members, Putin said he was aware of the current discussions about cryptocurrencies.
“As for cryptocurrencies, the Central Bank has its own position. It is connected with the fact that, according to experts of the Central Bank, the expansion of this type of activity carries certain risks, primarily for the citizens of the country, given the high volatility and some other components,” he added.
Putin also noted that Russia has a competitive advantage in the form of excess electricity, which can be used for mining.
“I asked both the Russian government and the Central Bank to come to some kind of consensus during the discussion,” the president noted.
