Arweave plans to acquire cryptocurrency-based YouTube Rival Odysee
According to Odaily, Arweave, a blockchain focused on data storage, is planning to acquire Odysee, a cryptocurrency-based YouTube competitor. This acquisition will likely bring about 7 million users to the Arweave blockchain. Unlike Ethereum, which can store links to metadata or large files like videos, Arweave can host this data entirely on-chain.
Sam Williams, founder of Arweave and CEO of Forward Research, stated that their goal is to overthrow the current monopoly in social media. He stressed that their efforts would not be considered successful unless they replaced Twitter. This acquisition is an important step toward achieving this goal, as it will likely expand Arweave's user base and influence in the digital space.
