Odaily Planet Daily News: Hong Kong police recently said that they have discovered a surge in the number of counterfeit banknotes used in cryptocurrency scams. From January to April, the authorities seized a total of 3,396 counterfeit banknotes worth about $320,000. A total of 1,693 "training banknotes" and 347 low-quality counterfeit banknotes were confiscated in three major cryptocurrency-related cases. These training banknotes are mainly used to train bank employees. They are similar to the HK$1,000 banknotes, but lack anti-counterfeiting features and are marked with the Chinese words "training banknotes." Scammers will open fake stores or arrange face-to-face transactions, provide cryptocurrency conversion services, and use these counterfeit banknotes to defraud. (Bitcoin.com)
