Elon Musk denies Bloomberg report that he advised Donald Trump on cryptocurrency issues

Elon Musk is denying claims that he was in talks with former US President Donald Trump about cryptocurrency.

Citing a source with supposed knowledge of the meetings, Bloomberg recently reported that the two billionaires are discussing cryptocurrency policy.

However, in a post on social media site X, Musk says the report is unfounded.

“Pretty sure I never discussed cryptocurrency with Trump, although I generally support things that transfer power from the government to the people, and cryptocurrency can do that.”

Musk also denied a report from The Wall Street Journal that he is being considered for an advisory role if Trump wins the upcoming presidential election in November.

“There was no discussion of my role in a potential Trump presidency.”

News that Musk is advising Trump on cryptocurrency issues comes as the presumptive Republican nominee seeks support from the crypto community in his bid to return to the White House.

Trump, a former critic of digital assets who has previously called Bitcoin (BTC) a scam against the US dollar, recently announced he is accepting cryptocurrency donations for his campaign.

He also criticized President Joe Biden and US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler for their stance on digital assets.
