On May 26, GCR's X account posted about ORDI and Luna2.0, and both tokens temporarily rose by 6% and 274% respectively. However, many pointed out that the hacker missed the opportunity by promoting these tokens instead of a more lucrative microcap coin. Crypto analyst Miles Deutscher said, “GCR hacker made a big mistake. "He could have picked any credible micro cap and pumped it 10-20x, but he chose to promote ORDI and LUNA2 and only got a 10% increase," he said.
Broader Attack Warning
The hack of GCR's account appears to be part of a broader campaign targeting celebrity X accounts. Bitcoin developer and Ordinals commentator Udi Wertheimer said, “GCR reported that major Twitter accounts were hacked today. “As we continue to launch more niche celebrity memecoins — while platform engineers are away on a long weekend — I would advise extreme caution,” he warned.
American rapper Rich The Kid, better known by his stage name Dimitri Leslie Roger, also became a victim of his X account being hacked. Her account, which has 2.3 million followers, shared a link to purchase the new token “RICH” launched on Solana memecoin creator pump.fun. The token reached a market cap of $90,000 within two hours of launch, according to DEX Screener data. It has not been officially confirmed whether Rich The Kid's account has been hacked, but his promotional post has been deleted.
Caitlyn Jenner Introduces Memecoin
Caitlyn Jenner's X account also introduced a new memecoin called "JENNER" and the token reached a market cap of $27.1 million within eight hours of launch. Industry experts speculated whether the teaser was a deepfake, but videos featuring Jenner and her manager Sophia Hutchins confirmed the legitimacy of the posts. In Jenner's video, she told her 3.3 million X followers that they should invest quickly and said, "If you want to join this, join now, okay, join right now."
The crypto wallet address for the JENNER token, which was also launched on Pump.fun, matched the address shared by adult content creator Kazumi, who introduced the “ZUMI” coin on May 20. This raised further suspicion that these hacks were planned. Despite these concerns, Hutchins claimed that Jenner's team was unaware of any connections to other tokens such as RICH, DOLL, and SOULJA.
