Will Trump win the US election thanks to cryptocurrencies?

Donald Trump is once again winking at voters who own cryptocurrencies. Shortly after the eccentric politician declared his support for the cryptocurrency sector, he gave another signal that he favors the industry. Donald Trump on May 21 officially announced that he was accepting donations to his campaign in the form of crypto assets. Will this attitude allow him to win the US elections?

According to the press release, the fundraising page provides “any federally permitted donor the ability to contribute – through joint fundraising committees – any cryptocurrency accepted through the Coinbase Commerce product.”

Trump has already received support in cryptocurrencies such as: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum ($ETH ), Solana (SOL), XRP (XRP), Dogecoin ($DOGE ), Shiba Inu (SHIB) and stablecoin USD Coin ($USDC ).

This move is nothing new. A few months earlier, Republican politicians who wanted to run for the US president used a similar solution. Moreover, Donald Trump has not always been as open to cryptocurrencies as he is today. A politician once ridiculed Bitcoin and called it a fraud. Today he changed his mind. Recently, it even came to light that he personally owns cryptocurrencies. Regardless of whether his intentions are true, it may turn out that this strategy will bring him a few valuable percentage points that will influence the election results.

Joe Biden against the wall?

Donald Trump's move once again puts his opponent in a difficult situation. Joe Biden has so far been known as an opponent of cryptocurrencies. Even if he changed his strategy now for the purposes of the campaign, he would be unreliable to voters who support cryptocurrencies.

Interestingly, in the ranks of democrats, this attitude towards cryptocurrencies is not common at all. Recently, Senator Cory Booker emphasized that cryptocurrencies could be a "democratizing" force that will enable access to the financial world for people who have long been excluded from traditional banking.
