US lawmakers pressure SEC to approve Bitcoin ETF

Five House Financial Services Committee members cite SEC's previous Bitcoin fund approval in letter to Gensler

A bipartisan group of US lawmakers sent a letter to the SEC urging approval of a Bitcoin spot exchange-traded fund (ETF). The group, which consists of five members of the House Financial Services Committee, two Republicans and three Democrats, is led by Rep. French Hill.

The letter referenced the January approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF, claiming it represented a "pivotal moment for digital assets and financial markets."

In addition, while urging regulators to "maintain a consistent and fair approach in reviewing upcoming applications," US lawmakers used "other digital asset-backed ETPs" instead of focusing on the Bitcoin ETF issue.

The final deadline for the first Bitcoin spot ETF application ends today, prompting the SEC to give a clear stance on these investment vehicles.
