Odaily Planet Daily News Microsoft may face billions of dollars in fines in the EU for Bing AI. If Microsoft does not respond to the EU's request for information by May 27, it will face a fine of up to 1% of its annual revenue in the EU. Microsoft posted on the X platform that it was required to "provide information about the risks of generative AI on Bing in accordance with the Digital Services Act. Bing may bring risks associated with generative AI, such as so-called 'hallucinations', deep fakes, and automated manipulation services that can mislead voters." It is worth mentioning that these fines have not yet been levied, and as of now, Microsoft has not been found guilty of violating any EU law, at least not the law specifically related to this notice. Instead, this seems more like a polite notice to the public, indicating that the company has received a request for further information and will bear the consequences if ignored. (Cointelegraph)
