Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken is considering delisting the USDT stablecoin from the EU. 📉 The reason is the new regime for digital assets, which will come into force in the EU in July.

The MiCA rules, which have yet to be approved by the European Banking Authority, will place restrictions on stablecoins offered to European investors.

“We are absolutely prepared for all situations, including those where it is simply not appropriate to list certain tokens such as USDT,” says Marcus Hughes, Kraken’s head of regulatory strategy.

Tether officials expect exchanges to focus on Euro liquidity for EU clients, keeping USDT as a temporary solution.
