Odaily Planet Daily News: A sentencing memorandum filed on Tuesday showed that lawyers for former FTX executive Ryan Salame asked the court for leniency and sentenced him to 18 months in prison. Ryan Salame pleaded guilty to election fraud charges last September. While at FTX and Alameda, Salame managed wire deposits and fiat currency exchanges for FTX customers, used Alameda funds to participate in political donations, and led charitable activities in the Bahamas. In documents submitted to the court, his lawyers argued that Salame's role in the closed company was not so important in the fraud, but more operational. They also mentioned cooperation with authorities, sincere remorse, efforts to address his substance abuse problems, and the significant personal and financial losses caused to him by the collapse of the exchange.
