Binance, the leading global cryptocurrency exchange, played a key role in the arrest of the suspect in the ZKasino fraud case. 🕵️‍♀️ Binance Crime Compliance and Investigation team took action to investigate the fake gambling platform. The team used on-chain tracking and open-source intelligence information (OSINT) methods to track the attacker. Binance is proud to have helped recover €11.4 million of stolen funds from ZCasino. After determining the identity of the account holder who committed the fraud, Binance reported it to legal authorities. The Netherlands' Financial Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) arrested the 26-year-old suspect on April 29 and seized digital assets, real estate and a luxury car worth $12.2 million. This is the first arrest in the ZKasino fraud case. However, Dutch authorities believe the site never planned to return the funds. Binance successfully froze millions of dollars of cryptocurrency stolen from ZKasino after a search warrant was obtained against the attacker's accounts. Binance research team assisted Dutch authorities with on-chain forensics. Binance's research team stated that the community played a critical role in capturing and revealing the identity of the ZKasino suspect. This is an ongoing investigation, and according to FIOD, "further arrests are not ruled out."
