According to U.Today, Ripple CTO David Schwartz recently commented on the arrest of Bitcoin Cash advocate Roger Ver in Spain on suspicion of tax evasion and mail fraud. Schwartz recalled that Ver was one of the best and most sincere people he had ever met, and his actions stemmed from a firm belief in his own moral code. However, he also admitted that there were different views on Ver's influence, some people thought he was a positive force, while others had different views.

Schwartz suggested that Ver’s departure from the US may have been motivated by a desire to maintain moral integrity, especially when faced with tax issues. Regarding the charges against Ver, Schwartz suggested that it may have stemmed from ideological differences, as he had been targeted in the past for his beliefs. Notably, he mentioned that Ver had supported Ripple from its early days, which may have led to the company facing challenges from the US government in its early days. Ver, popularly known as ‘Bitcoin Jesus’, was recently arrested in Spain and charged with tax evasion and mail fraud, according to a press release from the US Department of Justice. The indictment alleges that Ver knowingly engaged in a scheme to defraud the US Treasury, resulting in a loss of at least $48 million to the US Internal Revenue Service.
