Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has spoken in favor of multisig over Shamir backup, saying the latter is "much easier to mess up" for regular users. 😬 In discussing the security of cold wallets, Buterin emphasized the importance of decentralization of security, preferring multi-signature, where multiple keys are required for transactions. Responding to Buterin's proposal, Ethereum investor Tobby Kitty proposed Shamir, a backup method for splitting cryptographic keys or passwords into multiple parts. Buterin warned that this is "much easier to screw up" compared to multisig.
