What is SBT?
SBT (Soulbound tokens) are digital identity tokens representing the traits, characteristics and achievements of a person or organization. Unlike NFTs, SBTs cannot be transferred or traded.
SBTs have a wide range of potential applications. For example, they can be used to verify education, professional experience and medical information. In Web3, SBTs can serve as proof of trust and be used for voting in DAOs.
What is zkSBT?
zkSBT — is an enhanced Soulbound Token that uses ZKP to improve security and privacy over traditional SBTs. It allows users to privately verify their identity without revealing wallet addresses or other information
Each zkSBT has Proof Keys, which allows you to verify your identity on chain without the need to have a wallet
zkSBTs have different use cases for verification:
KYC
Verifiable, private on-chain gaming assets
Private on-chain verification of assets and credit accounts
One of the prominent examples of the use of zkSBTs is the use of zkBABs for private KYC and identity verification in various applications in the BNB CHAIN ecosystem
Manta Network's ZKP research has been implemented into one of its flagship platforms — NPO
The NPO platform offers users a seamless, easy way to create a unique zkSBT.
What is DID?
DID — Decentralized Identifier allows you to own and manage your digital identity.
DIDs are different from centralized digital identifiers, which are issued and stored by centralized institutions such as governments or companies. Users with centralized digital identities may be subject to hacking, privacy violations, and data control by centralized authorities. In contrast, decentralized digital identities are entirely owned and controlled by the user. Because decentralized digital identities are blockchain-based, they are digital and encrypted.
Since DIDs and SBIDs are effectively a user's identity in cyberspace, they are ideal for blockchain services. In many ways, DIDs and SBTs are the future of online identity.
