As social app friend.tech prepares to launch version 2, the team has completed snapshot preparations for a 100% airdrop of the FRIEND token. They said on
friend.tech is a decentralized social platform based on Base, Ethereum Layer 2 incubated by Coinbase. When launched in August 2023, it attracted great attention and briefly became one of the largest blockchain platforms. The platform allows "topics" or influencers to provide "shares" to the community, enter private chats and share benefits and tradable information. As the popularity decreases, the number of active users also decreases.
However, the imminent launch of version 2 has once again kicked off trading and activity on the platform, with DefiLlama now showing a total locked value of $34.4 million, although down from its peak of $52 million in October. The second version will introduce new features such as Money Club, allowing the community to manage treasury and mint on-chain collectibles such as NFTs, and launch a new points system and custom curves to allow users to create their own engagement indicators.
Additionally, the update includes customization options that enhance the chat space, such as polls and visual themes. Crypto investor John Wang shared details of the second version last month, stating: "V1 is an experimental phase, while the FT plan is a long-term solution. Are you ready, Anonymous?"
