[Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) enters the Web3 frontier]

As a pioneer in the integration of sports and technology, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is exploring the tokenization of its market assets and entering a new generation of fan interaction. The initiative was highlighted at Paris Blockchain Week, with attendees including PSG’s head of Web3 Pär Helgosson, Chiliz CEO Alexandre Dreyfus, and legendary football star and tech entrepreneur Blaise Matuidi.

PSG is tokenizing ticketing, stadium seating and fan data, using blockchain technology to enhance fan interaction and redefine the traditional sports experience. Helgosson says now is the time to act strategically, with all the ingredients for innovation in place.

PSG's cooperation with Chiliz, which is well-known for its sports blockchain services, is an important step in realizing its Web3 ambitions. It will build PSG into a core node on the Chiliz chain, promote the development of fan tokens, and cultivate a self-supporting digital economy with fans as the core. .

PSG has been at the forefront of the digitization of sport, starting with the launch of its official fan token in 2019 in partnership with Socios.com. Fan Tokens become the key to global fan engagement, especially those far away from the stadium.

Dreyfus believes that compared to the single collectibility of NFT, tradable fan tokens are currently more in line with market demand and more conducive to continued fan interaction.

Blaise Matuidi started from his technology investment experience and emphasized the significant impact of Web3 on the sports industry. Through his investment fund, Origins, he supports blockchain projects that enhance connections between athletes and fans.

PSG’s Web3 strategy will continue to push the club to the forefront of innovation, setting new standards for the integration of sport and technology. As these strategies advance, PSG is expected to further solidify its leadership position in the sports technology industry and be followed by other clubs.
