📚If you follow the blockchain industry and the digital currency market, it is unlikely that you have not heard of the term Interplanetary File System.

🤔So what is the meaning of this term? What does it refer to?

📚Definition:

It's basically a file system that allows you to store files, track versions over time, like Git, and track them on a distributed network, somewhat like BitTorrent.

This storage system allows direct interaction through a secure and global P2P network.

By combining these two properties, IPFS enables a new, always-on Web and enhances the way we use existing Internet protocols like HTTP.

To store data, IPFS uses a distributed hash table, or DHT. Once we have the hash, we ask the peer network who has the content in that hash, and we download the content directly from the node that contains the data I want.

🤔What is a distributed hash table?

The basic idea behind which the developers built IPFS is to model all data as part of the Merkle DAG itself.

However, the popularity and effectiveness of IPFS as a distributed file system also creates security and access control concerns.
