Polkadot is facing the opportunity to cooperate with Messi's Inter Miami with a sponsorship package of up to 8.8 million USD.

Cooperation With Messi's Inter Miami

This move is intended to take advantage of the football club's global influence and widespread coverage. This strategy simultaneously aims to showcase the capabilities of the Polkadot ecosystem.

Polkadot's effort is to increase the visibility of this blockchain network beyond the cryptocurrency industry. And this time it will be through sports-related marketing.

The club owned by David Beckham is a force in the American soccer league. Inter Miami now has one of the most prominent social media fronts in the United States. After signing several famous players such as Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, the football club attracted considerable public attention.

The proposal shows that the sponsorship will last for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The blockchain project's branding is printed on the Inter Miami kits.

The proposed text reads:

“Training kit sponsorship has become one of the most valuable assets of a senior football club sponsorship. This is due to the way fans consume content on digital channels, much of which comes from the training ground, providing 24/7 behind-the-scenes access to always-available content.”

The proposal further argues that:

“The partnership with Inter Miami will instantly make Polkadot a globally recognized brand as the presence of Lionel Messi and other global icons is turning Inter Miami into a football phenomenon. ”

The agreement also includes the designation of Polkadot as the official Blockchain Technology Partner of Inter Miami. This includes strengthening the partnership through a dedicated landing page on Polkadot's website. They will also deploy in-stadium advertisements. The plan will also create exclusive NFTs. The target audience is of course Inter Miami's fan base.

If approved, Polkadot will join the list of crypto-related companies sponsoring soccer team kits. In the English Premier League, OKX has a £20 million deal with Manchester City. While the Tezos blockchain network is linked to Manchester United.

Early indicators from community voting show strong support for the proposal with around 70% of votes supporting the initiative.
