Vitalik Buterin called the only “cryptovillain who deserves forgiveness”
In the crypto world, controversy continues to surround individuals who have left an indelible mark on the history of the industry. Vitalik Buterin, one of the creators of the broadcast, recently spoke out about two controversial figures - Mark Karpeles and Kyle Davis.
According to Buterin, Mark Karpeles, the former owner of the notorious MtGox exchange, which collapsed in 2014, is a kind of symbol of the “dark side” of the crypto industry. Despite the fact that Karpeles was arrested by Japanese authorities in 2015, Buterin considers him the only “crypto-villain” of yesteryear who managed to redeem himself. Unlike other scandalous characters, Karpeles prefers to stay in the shadows and work on interesting projects without attracting too much attention to himself.
On the other hand, Kyle Davis, one of the founders of the cryptocurrency hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (TAC), which collapsed in 2022, remains defiant. Buterin notes with indignation that Davis continues to publish memes about cryptocurrency transactions, while TAS investors lost billions of dollars due to the bankruptcy of the fund. Moreover, Davis openly declares his lack of remorse regarding the collapse of Three Arrows Capital.
